Si amplia il numero dei partner del CONCORSO SQUEEZE IT ed il termine di presentazione delle candidature è esteso fino al 16 settembre!

ART. 1 – PURPOSE
The contest is international and addressed to the European area. It aims to promote and support new artistic creations at the crossing of theatre and the visual arts.
The contest is specifically directed at the new generations in order to encourage future professionals to create original projects, which are characterized by the dynamic interaction between the contemporary creativity of theatre and the languages of the visual arts and of the new media.
The initiative is aimed also at developing moments of connection, based on multicultural and multilingual exchange, between young artists and professionals from Europe (seminars of analysis, workshops, mobility of professionals and participating finalists).

ART. 2 – OBJECT
The contestants are asked to create an original, unpublished and low budget theatrical action in a small format, organically connected to the themes and issues of contemporary visual arts, taking into account the opportunities offered by the new media.
In pursuing its objectives, the initiative will also be closely examining the works which originate from the projects of students who are active in educational and training initiatives of institutions which are based in Europe.
The contestants are asked to conceive a theatrical action which maintains as its founding elements the stage environment and performing talent, includes dramaturgy and gives specific attention to the visual potential of recent information and communication technologies. The contestants should thus submit projects which have the ability to be sustainable, shared and adaptable.
In keeping with the logic of the Award, the applying theatrical action must be able fit in an ideal 4mx4mx4m size box and last no longer than 16 minutes.

ART. 3 – AWARDS
In accordance with the aim of the contest, no monetary prizes will be given.
The finalists will actually perform in the final evening of the contest their 16 minutes theatrical action and will be invited to participate in a formative and in-depth workshop regarding issues relating to the contest’s objectives.
The FRANCO JESURUN Award 2014 will give the final winner the opportunity to collaborate with an internationally renowned video artist with whom he will realize a professional video of the theatrical action which won the prize.
The Online SQUEEZE IT Award 2014 will be given to the video clip, ranked first in an on-line public vote of semifinalists’ video clips. The winner will be invited to participate in the workshop of the finalists.

ART. 4 – JURY
An international jury composed of representatives respectively from the world of theatre, of contemporary art, and of the latest territories of communication will evaluate eligibility of projects submitted, then select the semi-finalists and the finalists and ultimately give out the FRANCO JESURUN Award.
The evaluations of the jury are final.
The names of the components of the jury will be announced on the website www.triestecontemporanea.it.

ART. 5 – REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION
The award is for young contestants under the age of 30, born in EU member countries, in CEI member states, in Kosovo* and in Turkey.
Any group competing should indicate a project leader.
All participants must be born after September 16, 1984 and in the countries listed above.

(* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSCR 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo declaration of independence)

ART. 6 – APPLICATION PROCEDURE AND DEADLINE
There is no fee for applying.
Applications are processed exclusively online through the full completion of the form available at www.triestecontemporanea.it and submitted by midnight of September 16, 2014 (Italian time).
All the application’s documents have to be written in English as well as in the original language of the candidates.
Every candidate will provide a written presentation of an original project and a video clip. Both of them must be unpublished.

The following documentation must be presented:
- personal data, curriculum vitae and an ID card of the participant or of the project leader;
- personal data of components of the eventual group;
- the title of the project and its abstract;
- the written presentation of the project;
- a video clip which does not exceed 4 minutes;
- up to 2 other documents containing any other material added to the project which is considered to be pertinent to the candidacy.

Only candidacies with completed documentation which has been submitted online will be accepted.

ART. 7 – PHASES OF CONTEST
Semi-finalist works. By the beginning of October the list of semi-finalists, selected by the jury from among the eligible projects submitted, will be announced on the website www.triestecontemporanea.it and their video clips will be put online.
The online viewer will be able to vote on them till the end of November.

Finalist works. By the beginning of October will also be communicated the list of finalist works selected by the jury.

SQUEEZE IT final evening and award ceremony
The selected finalists will present their theatrical action in the SQUEEZE IT final evening, open to the public and in the presence of the jury, which will take place in Trieste beginning of December.
At the end of the final evening the jury will select the winner of the FRANCO JESURUN Award and will announce the winner of the online SQUEEZE IT Award.
If the finalist, regardless the reason, does not show up for the final evening, he will be eliminated from the contest.

Workshop of the finalists + online winner
The selected finalists and the winner of the online vote will be invited to participate in a 3-days workshop, to be held in connection with the final evening.

Production and presentation of the winner’s video
From the theatrical action awarded the FRANCO JESURUN Award, and in collaboration with the winner, a prominent international video artist will realize a video, that subsequently will be presented to the press and the public and circulated by the organisers through their network of international collaborations.

Art. 8 – PUBBLICATION OF THE CONTEST’S RESULTS
The results of the contest will be available on internet on the website www.triestecontemporanea.it. They will also be announced to the European media and newspapers by organisers. The material of the SQUEEZE IT contest will form a documentary base available for later studies in an online library which will be dedicated to themes tied to the relationship between visual arts and contemporary theatre.

ART. 9 – TECHNICAL NOTES AND ECONOMICAL ASPECTS
Technical notes of the SQUEEZE IT final evening. The performance of the theatrical actions of the finalists will take place on the same stage (4×4x4 meters), in a continuous flow, each action lasting 16 minutes and alternating with each speech of presentation. At the end of each theatrical action, in fact, its project leader will be invited to expound and discuss the project with the jury for 16 minutes in order to let the following finalist have time for setting his stage.

The organisers will provide a predefined stage set up and technical equipment to be agreed with finalists and will sustain their costs. Any other needs and other costs pertaining to the production and performance of each theatrical action (which should in any case answer to the spirit of the low budget initiative), will be the responsibility of each finalist.

Refunds. Travel and hotel expenses pertaining to the final evening of the finalist project leaders (and an eventual added collaborator) and of the project leader of the online award SQUEEZE IT will be paid by the organization. The expenses will also be paid for the participation in the workshop of the finalist project leaders as well as for the winner of the SQUEEZE IT Award and the production of the video of the winner of the FRANCO JESURUN Award.

ART. 1 – FINALITÀ
Il concorso ha carattere internazionale e si indirizza verso l’area europea. Lo scopo è la promozione e il sostegno di nuove creazioni artistiche nell’intersezione di teatro e arti visive.
L’iniziativa è rivolta in particolare alle nuove generazioni e incentiva i futuri professionisti nella realizzazione di progetti inediti, che si caratterizzino per l’interazione dinamica tra la creatività contemporanea del teatro, i linguaggi delle arti visive e le risorse dei nuovi media.
L’iniziativa si propone inoltre di sviluppare momenti di relazione tra giovani artisti e professionisti europei, in una logica di scambio multiculturale e multilinguistico (seminari di approfondimento, workshop e mobilità dei professionisti coinvolti e dei partecipanti finalisti).

ART. 2 – OGGETTO
Ai concorrenti si chiede di progettare un’azione teatrale originale, inedita, di piccolo formato, a basso costo, connessa organicamente con i temi e i problemi delle arti visive contemporanee e attenta alle opportunità offerte dai nuovi media.
Nel perseguire le proprie finalità, l’iniziativa guarda con attenzione anche ad elaborati che nascano dalla progettazione di studenti attivi all’interno di percorsi formativi di istituti e centri educativi europei.
Il concorso invita a pensare lo svolgimento di un’azione teatrale che, mantenendo come elemento portante la dimensione della scena e il talento performativo, includa aspetti drammaturgici e rivolga una specifica attenzione al potenziale visivo delle recenti tecnologie di diffusione via web. Viene dunque chiesto ai concorrenti di presentare progetti che rispondano a criteri di sostenibilità, condivisibilità, adattabilità.
Nella logica del Premio l’azione teatrale che si candida al concorso va dunque prevista come collocabile in un ideale box di dimensioni 4m x 4m x 4m e di durata non superiore ai 16 minuti.

ART. 3 – PREMI
In accordo con le proprie finalità il concorso non prevede premi in denaro.
I finalisti rappresenteranno l’azione teatrale di 16 minuti nella serata conclusiva del concorso e avranno l’opportunità di partecipare ad un workshop formativo e di approfondimento sui temi che sono a finalità del concorso.
Il Premio FRANCO JESURUN 2014 offrirà al finalista vincitore la collaborazione di un artista di riconosciuto livello internazionale con il quale realizzare un prodotto video professionale a partire dell’azione scenica vincitrice.
Il Premio SQUEEZE IT Online 2014 sarà aggiudicato alla video clip prima classificata nella votazione pubblica online della video clip dei semifinalisti. Il vincitore sarà invitato a partecipare al workshop dei finalisti

ART. 4 – GIURIA
Una giuria internazionale, composta da esponenti del mondo del teatro, dell’arte contemporanea e dei nuovi territori della comunicazione, valuterà i progetti eleggibili tra quelli pervenuti, selezionerà successivamente i semifinalisti e i finalisti e assegnerà il premio FRANCO JESURUN.
Le valutazioni della giuria sono insindacabili.
I nomi dei componenti della giuria verranno resi noti sul sito www.triestecontemporanea.it.

ART. 5 – REQUISITI DI PARTECIPAZIONE
Il premio si rivolge a giovani under 30, nati nei paesi membri dell’Unione Europea, nei paesi aderenti all’In.C.E., in Kosovo* e in Turchia.
Eventuali gruppi indicheranno un responsabile di progetto.
Tutti i partecipanti devono essere nati dopo il 16 settembre 1984 e in uno dei paesi sopra menzionati.

(* questa denominazione non implica alcuna posizione sullo status ed è in linea con la risoluzione Onu 1244 e con l’opinione della Cig sulla dichiarazione d’indipendenza del Kosovo)

ART. 6 – MODALITÀ E TERMINI DI ISCRIZIONE
Il concorso non prevede alcuna spesa di iscrizione.
Le candidature vanno trasmesse esclusivamente on line, attraverso la compilazione completa del modulo predisposto su www.triestecontemporanea.it entro le 24 (ora italiana) del 16 settembre 2014.
Tutti i documenti di candidatura dovranno essere redatti in lingua inglese e nella lingua di provenienza dei candidati.
Ogni candidatura prevede la presentazione di progetto scritto e di video clip. Entrambi gli elaborati devono essere inediti.

Viene richiesta la seguente documentazione:
- i dati personali, il CV e un documento di identità del partecipante o del responsabile di progetto;
- il luogo e la data di nascita degli altri componenti del gruppo;
- il titolo del progetto e un suo abstract;
- la presentazione scritta del progetto;
- una video clip della durata massima di 4 minuti;
- fino ad un massimo di due altri documenti contenenti ogni materiale aggiuntivo al progetto ritenuto rilevante per la candidatura.

Non potranno essere accolte candidature con documentazione incompleta e inoltrate per via diversa dall’iscrizione online.
ART. 7 – FASI CONCORSUALI
Progetti semifinalisti. Entro l’inizio di ottobre sarà reso noto sul sito www.triestecontemporanea.it l’elenco dei semifinalisti selezionati dalla giuria. Da allora le video clip saranno disponibili online e potranno essere votati dal pubblico fino alla fine di novembre.

Opere finaliste. Entro l’inizio di ottobre verrà altresì data comunicazione delle opere finaliste selezionate dalla giuria.

Serata conclusiva SQUEEZE IT e cerimonia di premiazione. I finalisti rappresenteranno le loro azioni teatrali, in una unica serata, aperta al pubblico e alla presenza della giuria che è prevista a Trieste all’inizio di dicembre.
Alla fine della serata, la giuria decreterà il vincitore del premio FRANCO JESURUN e comunicherà il vincitore del premio SQUEEZE IT Online.
Il finalista che per qualsiasi motivo non si presenti alla serata conclusiva verrà escluso dal concorso.

Workshop dei finalisti e del vincitore selezione online. I finalisti selezionati e il vincitore della selezione online parteciperanno ad un workshop di 3 giorni che si terrà congiuntamente alla serata conclusiva.

Produzione e presentazione del video vincitore. Un artista videomaker di riconosciuta fama internazionale verrà invitato a realizzare un video a partire dalla rappresentazione dell’opera vincitrice e in collaborazione con il vincitore. Il video sarà poi presentato alla stampa e al pubblico e diffuso attraverso la rete di collaborazioni internazionali degli organizzatori.

Art. 8 – PUBBLICAZIONE DEGLI ESITI DEL CONCORSO
I risultati del concorso saranno consultabili sul sito www.triestecontemporanea.it. Essi verranno altresì resi pubblici dagli organizzatori tramite comunicazione ai media e alla stampa europei.
I materiali del concorso SQUEEZE IT costituiranno un fondo documentario che verrà reso disponibile per studi successivi in una costituenda biblioteca online dedicata ai temi della relazione tra le arti visive e il teatro contemporanei.

ART. 9 – NOTE TECNICHE E ASPETTI ECONOMICI
Note tecniche della serata conclusiva. La rappresentazione delle azioni teatrali finaliste avverrà sul medesimo palcoscenico (dimensioni 4 x 4 x 4 metri), in un flusso continuo. Ognuna delle rappresentazioni durerà 16 minuti e si alternerà alle rispettive presentazioni. Alla fine dell’azione teatrale, infatti, il responsabile del progetto potrà approfondire e discutere con la giuria il proprio progetto, per 16 minuti, in modo da lasciare al prossimo finalista il tempo di preparare il suo allestimento scenico.
Gli organizzatori forniranno un allestimento e una dotazione tecnica predefiniti da concordare con i finalisti e ne prenderanno in carico i costi. Eventuali esigenze particolari e altri costi relativi alla produzione e alla messa in scena della singola azione teatrale finalista (che dovranno comunque rispondere allo spirito low budget dell’iniziativa), restano a carico del finalista.

Rimborsi. Le spese di viaggio e alloggio relative alla presenza alla serata conclusiva per i responsabili dei progetti finalisti (e di un collaboratore aggiuntivo eventuale) e per il responsabile di progetto del premio online SQUEEZE IT saranno a spese degli enti organizzatori. Così come quelle per la partecipazione al workshop dei responsabili dei progetti finalisti e del vincitore del premio SQUEEZE IT e quelle per la realizzazione del video del vincitore del premio FRANCO JESURUN.
