Erika Miklósa’s Jubilee Gala Night
OPERA STREAM
“If a person manages to become an opera singer, then that’s a great accomplishment in and of itself, considering how taxing it is, both physically and mentally, to sing opera. I started out as an athlete, and that’s when I learned how to bring the best and most out of everything I did. I had to sacrifice a great deal in order to reach the top international level. […] No other career would have given me a more interesting or colourful life,” says coloratura soprano Erika Miklósa, who has enchanted audiences as the Queen of the Night, Konstanze, Gilda, Adele, Violetta, Lucia di Lammermoor and in her countless other opera and operetta roles both in Hungary and internationally everywhere from Brussels and Malmö to New York. A winner of both the Kossuth Prize and the Ferenc Liszt Award, the singer made her Hungarian State Opera debut at the age of 19, as Papagena. To celebrate 30 years of her membership in our company, the Opera is planning a jubilee gala in which Miklósa will sing excerpts from her most important roles in operas like Die Zauberflöte, Carmen, Lucia di Lammermoor and Don Pasquale alongside such partners as Rita Rácz, Bernadett Wiedemann, Atala Schöck, Boldizsár László, István Horváth and István Kovács.
